USPS Holiday Deadlines For Mailing Items is Now Available
I am still busy making my plans for Halloween while others have already started thinking about Christmas. In my head, there is plenty of time to nail down Christmas but the truth is some Christmas deadlines are coming as early as November 2nd, 2024.
According to a Shopify survey from last holiday season 56 percent of us wait to do our in-person shopping in December. The survey also revealed that younger shoppers, under 50 are most likely to wait. This delay could make it difficult to get your package out on time according to United States Postal Service (USPS) deadlines.
Why People Do Their Holiday Shopping in December
Waiting to do your holiday shopping isn't a new concept—most of the time it has to do with budgeting. Not many of us have the old trusty "Christmas Saver" accounts anymore. The other reason we wait is to be able to take advantage of sales and also the holiday spirit in the store we like to buy from.
The fact is if you headed out now to some of your favorite Hudson Valley small businesses they are decked out for Halloween and Fall. Although you might find great gifts for people on your list you would be doing it without Christmas music and all the other things we enjoy about shopping closer to the holidays.
USPS Deadlines for Mailing Letters and Packages
So what about the mail, what are those deadlines? As you might imagine the deadlines vary depending on what you are sending and where it is going. For instance, if you are mailing something using Military Mail those letters and packages should be out no later than November 4th, 2024.
International Dates vary based on the country you are shipping to but to guarantee delivery by December 25th the USPS says to have them out by December 11, 2024.
