Thankfully, we can explore a popular nature preserve within the Hudson Valley, for free!

What Is The Mohonk Preserve In The Hudson Valley?

The Mohonk Preserve is known for being a popular nature preserve within the Ulster County, NY area. They highlighted that they,

“Protect and manage over 8,000 acres of mountain ridges, forests, fields, streams, ponds, and other unique and beautiful places."

I love seeing all the pictures that they post of the natural beauty here in the Hudson Valley! The Mohonk Preserve included that they are also known for being,

“New York’s largest nonprofit nature preserve, each year we welcome 300,000 visitors.”

What We Need To Know Before Visiting Mohonk Preserve In Ulster County, NY

I’ve been to the Mohonk Preserve a few times and it’s something that we should all enjoy in our area. They are open everyday from sunrise to sunset. The Visitor Center is open to the public, year round and it’s free.

However, if we want to explore the beautiful land of the Mohonk Preserve, there is a fee for a daypass or guests can get a membership.

It’s $15 per day for hikers and $20 per day for climbers, horseback riders and bikers. We can get our members online or in person.

How To Get A Free Membership To One Of The Hudson Valley's Best Nature Spots

On social media, Mohonk Preserve made an announcement highlighting a free six week membership pass! They invited community members from Orange, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene and Ulster counties to sign up for this free membership, how exciting!

Their online registration option and in person registrations are available until March 22,2026. Mohonk Preserve also included that these free memberships will be valid through April 30, 2026. They included,

“One adult can pick up passes in person for a maximum of four passes per household. Proof of residency is required. Available to current non-members only, while supplies last!”
