Jared Leto Takes the ‘Name That Song’ Challenge on ‘The Tonight Show’
As we all know, Jared Leto is a man of many talents. Actor, frontman of Thirty Seconds to Mars, professional camper, he can do it all. You can now add quasi-game show contestant to the list, as Leto recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to play the "Name That Song" Challenge.
The way the challenge works is the show's house band The Roots begin to play a popular song, adding instrument by instrument along the way. Leto and Fallon play against each other head to head in trying to figure out what the song is before the other, to see who has the superior knowledge. At the beginning of the segment, Leto loses the first couple of rounds to Fallon, as the talk show host identifies Human League's "Don't You Want Me Baby" and Tom Jones' "It's Not Unusual." Leto swings back, guessing correctly on Depeche Mode's "Personal Jesus" and "Wannabe" by Spice Girls.
For the tiebreaker, Fallon steps up by correctly guessing The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" and U2's "With or Without You." But it once again falls back in Leto's favor for the final round offering that the last song was worth 10,000 points, before correctly guessing right the Tupac and Dr. Dre collaboration, "California Love."
It's a pretty hilarious watch, and followed up Leto's interview on the show where he spoke about his career in Thirty Seconds to Mars. The singer discussed his band's performance at this year's MTV Video Music Awards and how the thermal effect happened at the show. Leto also talked about zip lining onto the stage at a recent concert in Brazil. In addition, he discussed at length about starring in upcoming film Blade Runner 2049 and that he filmed all of his scenes blind.
These have proven to be a busy couple of months for the actor-frontman. Also at the VMAs, Leto offered a tribute to Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, later singing a medley of their songs on BBC. In addition to releasing a new album in the near future, Thirty Seconds to Mars will also be releasing a documentary A Day in the Life of America.
