Jim Norton Reveals Details of SiriusXM Departure Amid Company-Wide Cuts

Jim Norton has officially revealed the circumstances behind his departure from SiriusXM.

On his podcast Sword Fight, which he co-hosts with his wife Nikki, Norton explained that contract negotiations fell apart after he was offered a pay cut.

He countered by requesting additional vacation time, but instead of compromising, SiriusXM responded bluntly: "You can leave now," according to Norton.

His exit comes during a wave of personnel cuts at SiriusXM

On January 27, 2025, the company announced restructuring.

While Norton is out, his former Jim & Sam co-host Sam Roberts remains, but with only a short-term contract extension, as Roberts confirmed on the first show of the year.

Earlier this month, Roberts delivered an excellent and entertaining broadcast alongside Ron Bennington, proving he can hold his own even as the show’s future remains uncertain.

Many fans, including this one, praised the episode, with some even speculating that a Roberts-Bennington pairing could be a permanent move as Jim and Sam dissolve.

Norton, meanwhile, has already taken action. He launched his new podcast, Jim Norton Can't Save You, on January 8, 2025.

His departure marks yet another milestone in the slow demise of The Opie & Anthony Show's legacy. Once a juggernaut in shock radio, the show has splintered into different projects over the years, and its former hosts and spinoffs continue to dwindle.

As a massive fan of the original Sirius XM run of Opie and Anthony from 2004 til Anthonys' firing by the company in 2014,

I would love to see Sam Roberts continue in a prosperous way with Faction Talk and The occasional Busted Open guest spot on the companies Fight Nation channel.
