It has been a traffic nightmare and a huge pain for local residents in Kingston since the spring of 2011.

The Washington Ave sinkhole is getting repaired and preliminary work will start on Tuesday of next week on the corner of Lindermann Ave. According to the Daily Freeman, the sinkhole project got the go ahead and will most likely but finished by the end of the year.

City Engineer Ralph Swenson told the Daily Freeman that utility work will be done from mid-August to mid-September and drilling will start in mid-September and continue through most of October. The drilling part of this repair will create lots of noise and dust for the surrounding area.

The estimated cost of the sinkhole repair is in the neighborhood of $7 Million dollars.
