The rain seems to have made a permanent home in the Hudson Valley in recent months... but how wet has it actually become?

It's obvious that it's been a wet spring season when it becomes easier to talk about the last time it didn't rain instead of the last time it did. In fact, the last time there was a dry weekend now seems like a distant memory.

Droughts Turn to Rainfall in the Hudson Valley

Just six months ago, most of New York State was experiences varying stages of drought conditions. While the constant rain has been helpful to replenish rivers, lakes, and reservoirs, the nonstop gloom has also disrupted many warm-weather plans.

When Was the Last Time It Didn't Rain in the Hudson Valley

Recently, the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services took to Facebook to share an alarming statistic (below): it's been more than two months since there was a weekend without snow or rain in the Hudson Valley... and it just gets worse further north.

The Last Dry Weekend in New York State

According to the report, while the Hudson Valley saw a dry weekend in early March, the last time rain or snow skipped Saturday and Sunday in the Capital Region was more than six months ago in November 2024.
