Police are asking for help after a Hudson Valley man was shot inside a retirement and assisted living facility.

Monticello police are continuing to investigate a shooting that occurred in an apartment located at the John Crawford Senior Housing around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. Monticello police were advised by Sullivan County 911 of a report of a shooting victim at the retirement and assisted living facility.

Responding officers found a 39-year-old Monticello man who was shot multiple times police say. The unnamed victim was transported from the scene by Mobile Medic Ambulance to Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris and then flown to the Westchester Medical Center.

The victim was reported as in critical condition, according to police.

As of this writing, no arrests have been made and it's unclear if police know who the shooter is or why the 39-year-old man was shot.

Monticello police are being assisted in the investigation by the New York State Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office. Anyone with information about this incident can call Monticello police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
