Some local Marist students got surprising news about their Fall semester grades from a familiar face this week.

Christmas break is a bittersweet time for college students. It's nice to look forward to some time off after a long four months of studying, but stress over final exams and waiting to find out if you've passed your classes can really dampen the holiday spirit.

This week a familiar face decided to surprise some students at Marist College and Vassar College in Poughkeepsie. Gandolf the Wizard busted into various classrooms and study halls, shocking faculty members and students while breaking the news about their final grades.

Students who thought they would be successfully finishing their classes were disappointed to find out that they would not, in fact, be passing. Utilizing Gandolf's famous catchphrase, "You shall not pass," a member of The Super Zeros, a YouTube comedy group, dressed in costume was the bearer of the bad news. We're not sure this prankster was accurate in his assessment of these student's grades, but he certainly succeeded in lightning the mood during finals week.
