New York State Police stationed at Catskill arrested two men after they were found in a parked car with a variety of illegal drugs.

Thomas J. Dowd, 61, of Somers, and John J. Careccia, 49, of East Chester were arrested on Dec. 11 when Dowd, sitting in the driver's seat, and Careccia, a passenger in the vehicle, were found parked along Route 23.

At the time of their arrest, Dowd was allegedly found with cocaine in his possession, while Careccia was allegedly found with Alprazolam pills without a prescription. Dowd was charged with 5th degree criminal possession of a controlled dangerous substance, while Careccia was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

The men were arraigned by Town of Catskill Justice Wooten, with Dowd sent to the Greene County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail, or $5,000 bond. Careccia was released on his own recognizance.
