"The Reflection of Innocence" a military thriller, written by a Hudson Valley author blends paranormal with historical fiction. The book is available now.

John Tolliver’s story centers on a Navy misfit with a gift (or curse), of being able to see inside people’s souls. The Wappingers Falls resident pens the tale of John Calabrace. Growing up Calabrace possessed an extraordinary ability. By simple touching a person’s shoulder, or shaking hands, John would see a visual frenzy of emotions and memories that are not his own.

Told in first person, Calabrace joins the Navy to escape his ability. However his gift is soon discovered and he’s asked to use it to serve his country.

"Seeing other people's memories is not all fun and games," Tolliver said in a press release. "While reliving the memories of a dreamer or a theologian might be a fascinating gift, a peek into the mind of a despot or psychopath can be horrific."

Readers are giving the book positive reviews, calling it “fast-paced and suspenseful" or "interesting and captivating."

"The Reflection of Innocence" is available at Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com and iBooks.
