The 2025-2026 New York Knicks had an incredible season and capped it off with a win 53 years in the making.

The last time the Knicks were in the NBA Finals was back in 1999, when they lost to the San Antonio Spurs which made the 2026 finals even more meaningful as the Knicks once again took on the Spurs.

Before that, the last time that Knicks actually won the NBA Finals was in 1973 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Needless to say, it was about time.

Knicks fans flocked to Dick's Sporting Good to scoop up their Knicks Championship gear, but many wished Modell's Sporting Goods was still open.

It was a timed honored tradition to "go to Mo's" after a big New York win. Now, it looks like Modell's is making a comeback...sort of.

The sporting goods store official closed all of their physical brick-and-mortar location after they had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2020.

You can still visit Modells.com, which is owned by Omni Retail Enterprises not the Modell's family, and it looks like the old school store we remember from years past, with some New York gear available.

Modell's CEO tried to buy the name back, but after 2 unsuccessful tries Modell's is trying something different.

Modell's Launches a Brand New Website

Pix11 is reporting that Modell's is relaunching as MitchellModells.com. 

Former Modell's CEO Mitchell Modell told Pix11 "I can’t use the name Modell’s, but what I am going to use is the name Knodell’s." Their logo? An iconic NY pigeon.

According to the news outlet, Mitchell said about the website "We're starting small. I'm embracing it, we're investing in it, we're betting on it."

Pix11 adds that the new site is "free of affiliation and lacking traditional licensed gear" but they do have 1 single shirt for sale: The Champion Pigeon Tee.
