Another opportunity has presented itself to own a piece of New York history... and it's just a train ride away.

There are plenty of illegal ways to get your hands on your favorite piece of state property (or modify it like these genius vandals in New Paltz do every year), but it's a rare opportunity to get a piece of memorabilia on the up-and-up... until now.

MTA Pop-Up Event Sells Old Transit Memorabilia

For years, the Metropolitan Transit Authority has been holding pop-up events where they put some of the most iconic signs, seats, lights, and more from the New York City transit system. While some prices might cause a double-take, it's hard to put a value on nostalgia. Now, the sale is back in 2025 for two days only (check out 2024's event below).

What's for Sale at the MTA Pop-Up Shop?

One of the draws of these pop-ups is the sheer randomness of some of the items. While the big sellers might be signs from well-known subway stops or even the subway seats themselves, the MTA is also selling pieces ranging from handicap placards to bus speedometers (below).

Details On the 2025 MTA Pop-Up Shop

As the video shared, some items have been left over from years past, although that doesn't seem to have decreased their prices (red globes that cover subway exit lights, for example, are still for sale for $600 each). The 2025 MTA pop-up shop is October 16th and 17th from 9 AM to 2 PM at 23 Avenue X in Brooklyn, NY. To access by train, the MTA recommends talking the D train to Bay 50 St.
