$64 Million to Strengthen Security for Mid-Hudson Organizations at Risk of Hate Crimes
A historic state investment of nearly $63.9 million has been announced to enhance security measures for community-based organizations across New York State, particularly those vulnerable to hate crimes. This funding is part of the Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes Program, which will support 336 organizations statewide, including 87 in the Mid-Hudson region.
Commitment to Fighting Hate Crimes
The funding for this program has significantly expanded over recent years, with over $131 million in total grants awarded since 2021. This latest investment reflects a continued commitment to combating hate crimes and promoting safety for nonprofit organizations at risk due to their beliefs or missions. The program covers a wide range of security enhancements, including cybersecurity improvements and physical safety measures for both interior and exterior spaces.
Federal and State Collaboration to Boost Security
In addition to state funding, New York will receive more than $44.8 million in federal funding through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Nonprofit Security Grant Program. This federal support will help 223 organizations statewide, with $36 million allocated to the New York City metro area and $8.8 million to the rest of the state, including the Mid-Hudson.

The Mid-Hudson region will receive $16.5 million in grants, benefiting 87 community-based organizations.
