Cat Cheng is a New Hyde Park, NY resident who runs Cat's Bakes, a home business that takes custom bakery orders. Her skills are no joke either, with her very first bake of the very first episode landing her in the top three across all contestants.
Has Netflix Produced the Next Great British Baking Show?
The show could very easily be called the American version of the Great British Baking Show with its equal focus on a positive atmosphere and the conceit that "there's nothing more American than a county fair". It also gives some fun ideas to bakers at home.
Cheng's first creation of Nutella-stuffed fried dough with fresh strawberries and bananas would be the perfect project for a home baker with a deep fryer (although Cat fried hers in a pan), and another baker even introduced potatoes into their sweet treat.
It seems like our local hero is still soaking it all in, saying on Instagram, "I’m gonna say so much more at a later date when my brain can process what’s happening to me but for now.. Blue Ribbon Baking Championship is available to stream on Netflix RIGHT NOW."
