What Are the New Gadgets on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail?
For many Ulster County residents, especially those in the New Paltz and Rosendale area, these stations are as obvious as the clouds in the sky. Others, however, couldn't be blamed for being confused with the structure that looks like a cross between a public water fountain and exercise equipment.
New Bike Repair Stations on the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail
"Our new bike repair station was installed at the base of Joppenbergh Mountain in Rosendale over the weekend", the land trust recently shared on Facebook (below). A closer look at the repair station reveals a multitude of uses.
The perpendicular posts at the top of the station allow easy mounting of a bicycle, while the myriad attached tools assist with everything from seat adjustment to handlebar realignments. There's even an air pump to help with flats.
While this bike-friendly addition to the rail trail encourages more riders, the Wallkill Valley Land Trust reminded all users to check trail markings during theory outings, as not all trails are bike friendly. "The yellow trail that goes to the [Joppenbergh] lookout and summit is for foot traffic only. Other trails on the mountain are multi-use", they said.
