The Ulster County, NY dining scene is getting ready to welcome its newest restaurant.
The legendary Rosendale Café, which was a community staple for decades, surprised many residents when they permanently closed their doors on October 1st, 2022. In the months and years since, there was much speculation about who would move into the beloved building on Main Street. We now have our first clues.

Rosendale, NY has always been known by locals and tourists alike as a gem of Ulster County. With its historic movie theater, legendary street festival, and gorgeous train trestle (above), it has been the focus of everything from New York Times articles to film festivals. Now, hints have emerged about the newest addition to the town.
New Restaurant Coming to Rosendale, NY
There's paper on the windows and what looks like a new coat of paint on the exterior of the former location of the Rosendale Café (below). There are also a few signs that not only hint at the type of restaurant that will be moving in, but the attitude of the owners as well.
New Bistro to Replace the Rosendale Café in Rosendale, NY
"Fine cuisine in Rosendale is coming..." reads the first handwritten sign on the restaurant's window overlooking Main Street. "Coming soon... a cheeky bistro", proclaims another (below). These signs should hopefully signal something very important...
The small yet helpful glimpse into the personality of the incoming business might lead Rosendale, NY natives to breathe a sigh of relief. If this mood continues after opening, the new bistro will continue to carry the theme of the beloved Rosendale Café: a community gathering place where the employees and ownership add just as much to the restaurant as the food itself.
