New York, unfortunately, ranks as one of the top states for the percentage of people with various STDs.

According to a report from Alarms.org, New York is amongst the top states for the percentage of people infected with various sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). Thankfully, New York did not rank in the top ten for the overall percentage of people infected with STDs, just specific diseases. The report was developed based on 2017 data from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

New York was ranked the #9 state for the percentage of people infected with Chlamydia. Chlamydia is the most common STD in the United States, according to Alarms.org. In 2017, there were 116,814 cases of Chlamydia in New York, at a rate of 591.6 per 100,000.

New York was ranked the #6 state for the percentage of people infected with Syphilis. According to Alarms.org, there were 2,355 cases of Syphilis in 2017, at a rate of 11.9 per 100,000.
