Newburgh Robbery Prevented By Men With Brooms
A robbery in Newburgh was prevented Thursday when the two clerks working the store decided to fight back, with brooms.
News 12 reports the two men jumped into action when a man entered the Dairy Plus Express on North Road demanding money. The suspect, 39 year old Cinque Figueroa, was armed with just a knife. He was run out of the store when the workers decided to fight back with brooms they were using to clean at the time of the incident.
A man reading the newspaper nearby called authorities while customers attempted to follow the suspect. Figueroa was later picked up and charged with attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
Some say the pen is mightier than the sword but in this situation, the broom is mightier than the knife. You have to give these deli workers credit, things like this could go south fast. And of course the whole thing was caught on video.
