New York City might be the city that never sleeps, but the Hudson Valley most certainly has a bedtime. Luckily, a few local businesses are ignoring curfews.

There are few greater guilty pleasures than a late-night snack, and having that food cooked by professionals only makes the experience better. While there are plenty of "sleepy" towns in our corner of New York, there are a few places that keep the lights on past midnight.

Late Night Food Options in the Hudson Valley, NY

First, let's clear the air: the first late-night options in upstate New York were 24-hour diners (below). While they won't be mentioned on this list, these heroes of post-midnight eating paved the way for other late-night restaurants.

Urban Fork Late Night Now Open in Kingston, NY

Urban Fork Late Night in Kingston, NY recently announced their business hours that will keep the Kingston, NY bar and restaurant open well into the morning hours. Teaming up with food truck Mad Flava, they will be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10pm until 2am. Early birds shouldn't worry either, as their full restaurant Urban Fork Uptown keeps more traditional hours.

While there are other options with almost late-night hours (Quinn's bar and restaurant in Beacon, NY is open until midnight, and The Betty in Newburgh, NY lists their hours as "5pm until late", and Schatzi's in Poughkeepsie, NY is open until 1am on Friday and Saturday), it's nearly impossible to find food after the clock strikes 12am.

In Memoriam to Late-Night Food Spots

It wasn't always like this. Pre-2020, far more restaurants across every Hudson Valley county were keeping their light on well into the night. Backbar in Hudson, NY used to be open until 2am (they now close nightly at 10pm) and late-night staple Max's on Main in Beacon, NY recently closed permanently. Luckily, New Paltz, NY staple McGillicuddy's still keeps their kitchen open until 2am.
