You might not be able to go to a con but you can still get comics and more while supporting local businesses.

It's a weird week for comic book fans in the Hudson Valley. You may not be able to go to the Javits Center and get your geek on but there are plenty of other places in the Hudson Valley where you enjoy comics, cards and role play.

Almost all events that did not get cancelled in 2020 were moved to the internet especially large events. Back in March when the rescheduling began it was believed that convention centers may need to be used as makeshift hospitals.

It's crazy to think that about this time last year, thousands of people gathered in the New York city from all over the east coast to celebrate comic book culture at the New York City Comic Con. Collectors, cosplayers and gamers annually pack the Javits Center but this year like most events the con has gone virtual. Even the Hudson Valley Comic Con was cancelled.

What does this mean for local comic book fans and collectors?

There are still many places to get your fix. Most local comic book shops offer a variety of items from books to table top gaming and toys.
