If you have ever wanted to help in your community but just weren't sure how to help may I suggest that you check in with your local fire department. Many of the fire departments in the Hudson Valley are powered by volunteers. If you think you can't help or you don't have enough skills, check in and find out in person; you may be surprised by what you can do.

Help Hudson Valley Fairehouses Raise Money This Fall

If you are someone who can't volunteer but wants to help support your local fire department, stop in to see what fundraising they have going on. Some departments hold pancake breakfasts, others have a dinner monthly of some sort. There are also day events to teach fire safety and provide family fun.

The events listed below are just a small sample of what is happening at Hudson Valley firehouses. Be sure to stop by your local department to see what they have on the calendar this Fall. Then be sure to let us know so we can share it.

How to Make a Pumpkin Bird Feeder

I can't take credit for inventing this clever fall-themed bird feeder. I actually saw it first posted by the Farmer's Almanac. This is the Pumpkin Birdfeeder I made with a Hudson Valley pumpkin and some birdseed grown in the USA. Nature arts and crafts at my house turned out to be really easy and fun to watch once the squirrels and chipmunks found it.
