Nine Days"Absolutely (Story of a Girl)"

If you were alive in 2000 and had ears, you definitely heard this song a million times. It’s the kind of infectious, feel-good alt-pop that makes you want to belt it out in a car with the windows down.

"My girlfriend cries a lot, but I still think she’s the best thing ever." Is the Vibe.

Nine Days tried to follow up with another hit, but let’s be honest—this is the only one anyone remembers.

SR-71 - "Right Now"

This song was basically a prelude to the pop-punk explosion of the early 2000s. Right Now had that perfect mix of bratty energy and "screw-you" lyrics that made it ideal for any angsty teenager.

Stroke 9"Little Black Backpack"

A breakup song with way more bite than your usual "I’m sad" ballad. Sung in the usually ‘90s whine/belt. This one is all about bitterness and potential violence—"You oughta know why I’m gonna kick your ass."

It had just the right amount of snark and alt-rock edge to get stuck in your head for years. Stroke 9 is still around, but let’s be real, this was their moment.

Wheatus"Teenage Dirtbag"

Ah yes, the ultimate anthem for high school misfits everywhere, especially after being featured in the Jason Biggs movie Loser.

And even though it’s technically a "one-hit wonder," Teenage Dirtbag has had a bigger second life than most songs from 2000, thanks to TikTok and millennials who refuse to let it go.

Crazy Town"Butterfly"

A love song… from a rap-rock band… that got kicked off Ozzfest for being too much of a mess. That pretty much sums up Crazy Town.

They were supposed to be a nu-metal act, but their one actual hit was this unexpectedly soft, Red Hot Chili Peppers-sampling track about finding the perfect girl.

It blew up, but their Ozzfest antics got them booted from the tour. They tried to reclaim their bad-boy image after Butterfly, but the world had already moved on.

There you go—five bangers from 2000 that will officially be 25 years old in 2025. Feeling old yet?
