A photo project by a recent Vassar College graduate is an ongoing piece of work chronicling a three mile stretch of Main Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.

According to his bio on Petapixel.com, Caleb Stein just graduated Vassar in the spring of 2017. He grew up in London and New York City and says the aim of the photo project is to 'reconcile what I imagined of Main Street and what I actually see'. He began the project during his junior year while interning for Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden.

Stein's project has had him walk this three mile stretch of Main Street hundreds of times while sometimes wandering to side streets. He tries to make connections with local people and hear their stories and does his best to share the photos with his subjects.

He's using a DSLR Canon 7D camera and largely works in black and white photos. The pictures have a very dramatic quality to them and certainly evokes emotion.
