The life of a person who’s serving time at the Orange County Jail was saved after suffering a severe medical event.

The unnamed inmate was found in the housing unit of the Orange County Jail unresponsive and being assisted by other inmates after suffering a severe medical emergency.

Jail Corrections staff as well as medical staff responded and assisted the inmate with rescue breathing and chest compressions as well as applying and utilizing an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) two times prior to Mobile Life Support and the Goshen Volunteer Ambulance Corp arriving on scene.

The inmate was transported to Orange Regional Medical Center for treatment in the Intensive Care Unit. Official's say the inmate’s prognosis is good, and responding corrections officers and jail personnel will be commended for their life saving efforts in the future.
