Is Paul Rudd part of the cast of a new movie filming in the Hudson Valley?

Independent Film Begins Work in the Hudson Valley

In February of 2025 Hudson Valley Film Commission shared that an Independent Film was looking for a shooting location in the Poughkeepsie, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck areas.

At the time they were looking for a "single story ranch house in the Hudson Valley area." The project would film between May and July and a large part of filming would take place in the house.

We learned from the post that the project was called Rain Reign, but other than that, there were no other details. However, a recent celebrity sighting may have given us some insight as to who will be in the movie.

Paul Rudd Spotted at New Hotel in Hyde Park, New York

The newest luxury hotel in Hyde Park Inn at Bellefield, Residence Inn by Marriott, had a celebrity guest in their midst recently.

On Facebook they shared that Paul Rudd stopped by to take part in a cast and crew event at the Inn at Bellefield in the Delano Suit. Rudd was kind enough to take a photo with the staff that you can see below:

What caught our attention was that the photo was also captioned with the hashtag #RainReign which makes us think that Paul Rudd is probably part of the cast for the independent film.

Paul Rudd To Star In New Independent Film in the Hudson Valley

We did a little more research and found out that Rudd will star in Rain Reign.

According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance Rain Reign is about a woman that has Asperger's syndrome and forms a special bond with a lost dog named Rain.

Here's the synopsis:

Rose Howard has Asperger’s syndrome and an obsession with homonyms. After her father brings home a lost dog named Rain, their bond becomes special. However, when Rain goes missing during a storm, Rose must venture out of her comfort zone to find her beloved dog, ultimately confronting Rain’s original owners. The film is based on a book and a short film of the same name .

The dog in the above photo makes much more sense now too!

As mentioned above, the project will film between May and July across Dutchess County, so keep your eyes peeled for any celebrities in the area!
