PHOTOS: Beautiful Chaos at Orange County, NY Color Run
The Hudson Valley is filled with exciting weekend activities, but a recent color run in Orange County, NY might have been the most chaotic bit of fun in recent memory.
The color run, hosted by South Orange Family YMCA, was held in Monroe, NY. Not only did the run benefit the YMCA, but participants were encouraged to have a little extra fun when it came to the "color" portion of the day.
What Is a Color Run?
Color runs are defined by the extra feature added to an otherwise standard 5K race: showers of colored powder that turn racers into running rainbows. Participants are encouraged to wear light-colored clothing to maximize the effect, but it was more than people that received the color treatment over the weekend (below).

While the Monroe Police Department was on site in a professional capacity, children were also permitted to cover a patrol vehicle in dazzling pigments. "We're not sure who had more fun: the kids "decorating" the patrol vehicle, or Officer Padilla trying to clean it up afterwards", MPD shared on Facebook (below).
As photos showed, even police K9 Keen received some color to their nose as the young runners completely covered the MPD cruiser in every hue imaginable. The controlled chaos also seemed a fitting way to say goodbye to unseasonably warm October weather before it turns bitterly cold in just a few short days.

Though weather was in the 80s as recently as October 4th in the Hudson Valley, temperatures will drop severely over the next few days, with a low in the 30s by Friday, October 10th. Start planning for the next season below.
