Naples Florida resident Niko Karterouliotis, 23, is facing a robbery charge after he is alleged to have taken a woman's purse at the Walmart in Wallkill.

The Wallkill Police Department reported the incident happened at at approximately 7:33 on Dec. 14 in the store's parking lot, when a 21-year-old Middletown woman reported her purse was "forcibly removed."

Witnesses of the attempted robbery, including an off-duty police officer, identified Karterouliotis as the suspect and he was arrested at the scene. He was charged with third degree robbery during an arraignment in the Town of Wallkill Court by Judge Patrick Owen before being taken to the Orange County Jail on $5000 bail or $15,000 bond.

Karterouliotis' next court date is scheduled for Dec. 20.
