A Hudson Valley man is accused of possessing 1,440 bags of heroin mixed with Fentanyl.

On Monday around 4 a.m., the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit served a “no-knock” search warrant at an apartment on Hillside Avenue in the Village of Monticello.

At the home, police allegedly seized approximately 36 grams of heroin, packaging materials and a scale. Some of the heroin was already packaged for sale, some was waiting to be cut and packaged, police say.

“36 grams of heroin packaged for sale comes out to about 1,440 bags”, Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff said.

The heroin tested positive for Fentanyl, according to the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office.

George F. Kirschbaum, 32, of Monticello was charged with three counts of criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, criminal possession of a narcotic drug, all felonies, and two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Kirschbaum was sent to the Sullivan County Jail without bail.

If convicted, Kirschbaum faces up to 25 years in prison on each felony count.
