Police investigated a social media threat regarding a Hudson Valley elementary school.

On Thursday just before midnight, New Windsor police were told threats were made against Vails Gate STEAM Academy and Meadow Hill.

A mother read an article online about school threats in Dutchess County. In the comments section of the article, a parent said that due to the article she was keeping her child from going to school in Vails Gate on Friday.

The mother who read the article and comments then posted on social media that another Vails Gate parent was keeping their kid home because of threats made against the Orange County school.

Other parents from the Newburgh School District then reposted the information on various social media sites causing a panic, police say.

After a thorough investigation, New Windsor Police determined there was never a threat made towards the school, police say.
