Police: Teens Stole Thousands From Dutchess County Employer
Two teens have been arrested and are facing felony charges, after they allegedly stole thousands of dollars from their employer.
Two 17-year old males from Poughkeepsie have been arrested and charged with Grand Larceny and Falsifying Business Records, both felonies.
On February 23, 2017 Troopers were contacted by the Manager of a LaGrange business that reported that an employee had approximately stolen $200 from the store's cash register.
Through surveillance footage, an employee was observed entering sales into the register and later cancelling the sales enabling both teens to share the proceeds.
A subsequent investigation revealed that both teens had been cancelling sales enabling them to steal money from the business since October 2016. Both teens were arrested and charged with Grand Larceny fourth-degree. They were released with appearance tickets to return to court a later date.
Pursuant to the business reviewing documentation from cancelled sales and fictitious returns made while the teens were working together, it was discovered that they stole over $14,000.
On March 3, 2017 the charges of Grand Larceny fourth-degree was amended to Grand Larceny third-degree.
Both teens are due to appear in LaGrange Court at a later date and time.
