A popular brand of tampons was recalled for quality related concerns.

PR Newswire published a press release stating that parent company Kimberly-Clark recalled one of their brands of tampons. According to the press release, U by Kotex was the brand that was recalled for quality related concerns. It was a voluntary recall.

According to the press release, the U by Kotex® Sleek® Tampons, Regular Absorbency was the specific tampon recalled int he United States and Canada. The tampons were manufactured between October 7, 2016, and October 16, 2018, and distributed between October 17, 2016, and October 23, 2018. No other U by Kotex products have been recalled at this time.

The recall comes after complaints from consumers saying the tampon fell apart and pieces of the tampon were left upon removal and in some cases, medical attention was needed to remove the remains. According to PR Newswire, there were also complaints of infections, vaginal irritation, localized vaginal injury, and other issues.

The press release states that anyone with the product should stop using it immediately and contact Kimberly-Clark's Consumer Service team at 1-888-255-349.
