Have you ever tried Googling yourself? Oh, come on, we know you have. You go into the browser, type into the search bar, and you're curious as to what the engine may pull up about you. Perhaps you get a little giddy when your Instagram page is the third link that pops up. Perhaps, in Google Images, you run across that first cringey Facebook profile picture that you forgot about. Well, the internet sure didn't. Maybe if you are in business, you'll be upset to see that there is another John Smith in Idaho who's LinkedIn profile shows up before yours.

Try Googling Poughkeepsie

Okay, that is enough of the existential! You think Googling yourself is fun, I recommend Googling your hometown. I was looking up a statistic about Poughkeepsie when I discovered an article on Encyclopedia Britannica. Now that is a large, credible, reputable source. I've turned to Britannica as a source for many papers growing up, along with using it for research for articles for this job! So, naturally, I was curious as to what it would say about us. And then, I thought, "what do other sites say about Poughkeepsie?" As an insider, I'm familiar with much of the area, but what is the perception that we have by others researching us? Is it pretty? Is it boring? Are we known for more than just The Poughkeepsie Tapes? I needed to know!

So that you don't need to go digging yourself, I compiled much of the information from my search. First, I'll start with examples from Encyclopedia Britannica. Next, we will take a dive into Trip Advisor. Last, but certainly not least, and this one is not for the faint of heart, we are going to go over Urban Dictionary. Shall we begin?
