Poughkeepsie Man Arrested For Felony DWAI Drugs & Drug Possession
A Poughkeepsie man was arrested for a felony count of driving while ability impaired by drugs. Police say this was the man’s second DWAI drug charge in the past 9 years.
Just before 1:00 a.m. Saturday, a Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff observed a 2008 Chrysler, operated by 40-year-old Steven J. Bartholf, of Poughkeepsie speeding and driving erratically on Route 9 in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Officials say an investigation revealed that Bartholf was driving while impaired by drugs and illegally possessed a controlled substance.
Bartholf was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, felony, 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor, and other traffic infractions. Police say the DWAI charge became a felony due to a prior DWAI drugs conviction in October of 2007 in Ulster County.
Bartholf was released and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Poughkeepsie Court on April 25.
