How many different businesses have called this location home in Poughkeepsie, NY?

If you've lived in the Hudson Valley long enough and have spent any time in Poughkeepsie, chances are you've noticed the ever-changing businesses located at 842 Main Street at the triangular section of Routes 44 and 55 in Arlington.

I'm not sure why, but as I was driving past the other day, I started trying to remember how many different restaurants have operated at the now-closed location over the years.

Pizzeria Uno in Poughkeespie, NY

The first place I can remember was Pizzeria Uno, which later became Uno Chicago Grill. If you never went, it was a popular go-to hangout for families, college students, and locals looking for pizza and casual dining throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. I also remember them having some of the best deep-dish pizza, burgers, and drinks around at the time. Plus, it was always packed!

Unfortunately, the longtime restaurant spot officially closed in November 2017 after nearly 28 years in business. The closure came somewhat suddenly, with signs posted on the doors saying the restaurant was “Closed for Rebranding.” Sadly, that rebrand never happened.

What Else Was At the Former Uno's Location in Poughkeepsie?

After Uno’s shut down, the building didn’t stay empty for long. Around 2019, Frontera Tacos & Tequila opened at the location, bringing a completely different vibe to the longtime restaurant space. However, that chapter was short-lived as well, and by early 2023, the building was once again listed for lease.

Now, many Hudson Valley residents are left wondering what could possibly be next for one of the area’s most recognizable restaurant locations.
