Record Store Day Will Have 2 Dates This Year
The best day(s) of the year is back for 2021.
If you're into vinyl and records even the smallest bit, I have fantastic news for you. Record Store Day will officially make a return in 2021. This time not for one, but two dates. In 2020, there were 3 different Record Store Days since the COVID-19 pandemic turned the world upside down. For 2021, they're dropping it down to two dates, which is what typically happened.
Record Store Day said in a press release, "We've spent the last few months watching the news, listening to health officials, talking with record stores, labels, and RSD organizers the world over, and because we still don't have a magic 8-ball to tell us what things are going to look like in a few months, we've decided the smartest thing to do is bring back the concept of RSD Drops for 2021."
Record Store Day 2021 will take place on June 12 and July 17. Like the press release said, Record Store Day is bringing back the concept of Record Store Day Drops for this year and letting individual record stores decide if they want to have a large celebration. Record Store Day Drops are special and rare releases that come out exclusively for Record Store Day. Here in the Hudson Valley, Darkside Records is the largest record shop in the area. While they have announced in an email to customers they'll have the Record Store Day Drops, they will still have similar social distancing and safety rules in place for this year. A.k.a., a large celebration will not be happening.
Hopefully, we'll find out what Record Store Day Drops will be out this year soon!
