Popular stand up comedian Charlie Murphy who also happened to be Eddie Murphy's older brother has died at the age of 57. TMZ reports he lost his battle with leukemia which came to the surprise of friends and family who thought he was getting better.

Murphy, a talented in his own right, was perhaps best known for his role on the Chappelle Show in which he starred in some of the show's most recognizable Rick James skits.

The last time Charlie Murphy was in the Hudson Valley for a performance, he did a set at Banana's Comedy club in 2006. The morning of the show, he stopped by the radio station for a now infamous interview. He let out so many swear words during one sentence that our delay couldn't handle it. Several curse words made it out over the air, leading to his banishment from the station.

R.I.P. Charlie Murphy.
