Reminder: You Can Renew Your License Online
If your license expired earlier this year, New York State wants to remind you that time is running out to renew it.
At the beginning of the pandemic, nearly every government office shutdown. It was impossible to get into the DMV, and after that most DMV offices required a reservation. If your license expired when DMV offices were closed you didn't have to worry, because Governor Andrew Cuomo issued a grace period. But now, that grace period is about to be up.
The New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) sent out a notice via email stating the following:
Dear DMV Customer,
If you or someone you know has an expired driver's license, time is running out to renew. We just made it even easier to renew online — almost anyone whose license expired or will expire March through December can renew online and submit their vision test up to one year later. It takes just a few simple steps to complete the process. Use the link below to find out more or pass the link on to someone you know. Thanks for helping us spread the word!
If you do have an expired license, it's pretty easy to renew it online. Go to the New York DMV website and find how to renew your license. Here is the link. To renew online, you simply select the type of ID you have, the type of ID you want. From there, depending on when your license expired, there will be some information required about a vision test.
