Catskill Business Donates to Help Launch Victim Advocate Program
When you think of Resorts World Catskills, you probably think of gambling, performances, and vacation getaways. Now, it is time to also consider advocacy, if you didn't already.
Resorts World Catskills Donates to Fearless! Hudson Valley
In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Resorts World Catskills announced a donation of $10,000 to Fearless! Hudson Valley. The money will be used to launch a victim advocate program in Sullivan County. The program will be co-located within the Sullivan County Child Advocacy Center (CAC). The program is meant to mimic a similar program that has been successful in Orange County.
The donation was made possible through Resort World Catskill's corporate philanthropic program, Resorts World Gives. Resorts World Gives supports innovative organizations with clear goals and proven results.
Vice President Government Affairs and Public Relations of Resorts World Catskills and Resorts World New York City Meghan Taylor said,
"Organizations such as this are at the heart of what we do. Their efforts to improve the community in Orange County are well-known and we’re happy to support their endeavors to expand to Sullivan County. The more resources available to all of the families in our communities, the stronger the fibers that bind us all together will be, enforcing a strong foundation for decades to come"
Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc
Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc is the only private, 501 (c)(3) non-profit charitable organization in Orange and Sullivan Counties, which provides free and confidential services for victims of domestic violence sexual abuse, and human trafficking.
Formerly known as Safe Homes of Orange County, Fearless! Hudson Valley has a mission to build and informed, just, and accountable society so all people can experience supportive and safe relationships free from abuse, exploitation and oppression.
Fearless! does this through education, prevention, advocacy, and providing comprehensive services. Many of these services include shelter for victims and survivors of interpersonal violence, human trafficking, sexual violence, and other types of crime victimization.
Child Advocacy Centers (CAC's) are for children who have suffered sexual abuse or severe physical abuse. They're treated by caring teams who are dedicated to ending child abuse and helping the children and families heal.
The new program in Sullivan County will be comprised of individuals who specialize in providing services to these children and their non-offending family members
Kellyamn Kostyal-Larrier, Executive Director, Fearless! Hudson Valley, Inc said,
"This donation from Resorts World is so important to the future of our organization. Working collaboratively for victims and survivors has shown great success in Orange County and the opportunity to expand this work in Sullivan County means we can work towards achieving our goal of providing victims with trauma responsive services, enhancing their safety, and holding those who inflict harm accountable."
