According to an article on poughkeepsiejournal.com a small part of the River-to-Ridge Trail in New Paltz is now open to the public. Ever since the Walkway Over The Hudson opened and there has been an increase in the demand for more public trails. The Hudson Valley has always been a beautifully landscaped area and a place I'm proud to call my home.

Upon completion, the River-to-Ridge Trail will connect New Paltz to the Shawangunk Ridge with six full miles of trail. The section that just opened is only is 3/4 of a mile paralleling the Wallkill River connecting the Carmine Liberta Bridge to Springtown Road.

Completion of the six-mile trail is expected to happen close to September of this year. I'm not sure if it's just because I'm a huge Parks & Recreation fan, but I always believed that public parks and proper maintenance is an important part of the community I live in. It is one of the main reasons why I choose to stay in the Hudson Valley and like the idea of one day raising a family here.
