As if law enforcement didn't have enough to worry about...now they may mistake your cell phone for a gun and with good reason.

Yesterday U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (NY) made a call to action, asking online retailers to stop selling these possibly dangerous and potentially deadly iPhone cases. As you can see in the above image the phone cases are made to look just like a 9mm handgun and costing as little as $5 make these idiotic cases easily accessible to the public. Schumer is urging retailers like Amazon and eBay to pull these items offered by third party retailers.

“Any retailer willing to sell this potentially dangerous and tasteless handgun iPhone case is making a very bad call and putting lives at risk. We should be doing everything in our power to end the rash of gun violence across the country, however, this product simply promotes it. Moreover, this iPhone gun case can result in tragedy if mistaken for a real gun. I hope that Amazon and eBay take urgent action and remove all gun grip phone case products from their sites,” said Senator Schumer.

According to the New York Daily News shortly after the press conference online giant eBay responded and has begun pulling the item off it's site.

"eBay is in agreement with Senator Schumer and has already began removing listings for this item from our marketplace," company spokesman Ryan Moore said in a statement. "They violate our 'replica gun policy' and pose a safety threat to consumers."

Schumer also stated that the item likely violates federal law and with that is urging the U.S. Customs and Boarder Protection to investigate whether the items should still be allowed to be imported into the U.S. You can check out more on this story and watch it's progress  with Hudson Valley News Network.
