System of a Down singer Serj Tankian and composer Ramin Djawadi issued their original Game of Thrones song Friday (May 17), the same day Tankian's band performed the first day of Sonic Temple fest in Columbus, Ohio.

Included on Djawadi's new Game of Thrones: Season 8 (Music from the HBO Series) soundtrack, the collaboration with Tankian is the maudlin, in-universe tearjerker "The Rains of Castamere."

Tankian's appearance on the tune is the only guest spot occurring on Djawadi's 32-song Game of Thrones score. The soundtrack caps the show's final season, which finished airing Sunday.

The System of a Down singer isn't the only one getting in on the Game of Thrones act. Last month, Muse premiered singer Matt Bellamy's stirring number "Pray," which appears on an alternate Game of Thrones soundtrack.

Tankian appeared onstage in 2017 for the Game of Thrones Live Experience at The Forum in Los Angeles. Alongside a full orchestra, Tankian sang the dramatic track while scenes from the HBO drama played in the background.
