RIP to Sharon Jones

To say that Sharon Jones is an important figure in our time is an understatement. Unfortunately, word has spread that the crooning soul legend has passed on at the age of 60. The vocalist released seven dancefloor-burning LPs with the Dap Kings including last year's It's a Holiday Soul Party. The Dap Kings released the following statement:

We are deeply saddened to announce that Sharon Jones has passed away after a heroic battle against pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her loved ones, including the Dap-Kings.

RIP Sharon Jones, you helped usher in a new era of soul music for a generation, releasing several unmistakably great LPs on the way.

If you missed it, the Dap Kings played the White House earlier this year without her, but her presence was sorely missed.
