New York Amusement Park Gets a New Roller Coaster for Christmas
You know, I thought I did pretty good when it came to presents this year. I got some new clothes, a couple of new ornaments, a book, and a brand new TV. I got my dad tickets to see one of his favorite comedians and I got my mom a Chocolate of the Month subscription. As for my girlfriend, I got her tickets to one of her favorite Broadway shows. I thought I did pretty good this year, both giving and receiving. But how can I compete with the gift of receiving a roller coaster?! I wonder how they were able to fit that under the tree?
Six Flags Great Escape Gets First New Roller Coaster After 20 Years
Out with the old, in with the new! Over the summer, Six Flags Great Escape announced the retirement of the Olympic-scale venerated ride, the Alpine Bobsled. The Alpine Bobsled, which functioned as trackless, toboggan-themed rollercoaster, celebrated it's 25th and final year in use this year. The Alpine Bobsled ride was inspired by the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid.

Don't worry, there won't be an empty spot in the park. Set to open in 2024, The Bobcat roller coaster will be taking over. The Bobcat is the first new roller coaster at Six Flags Great Escape since 2003. Not just that, but the all-new coaster will be the first wooden roller coaster introduced in a New York theme park since 1999. The Bobcat will be joining Six Flag Great Escape's iconic Comet as the park's second wooden roller coaster.
