As the heat continues to build across the Hudson Valley this afternoon, we may see some scattered severe storms develop later today into this evening.

The National Weather Service has issued a Special Weather Statement for almost all of Eastern New York until 4 pm. While the cold front isn't expected to pass through the Hudson Valley until tomorrow, these storms could fire up well ahead of it.

Some of these storms could be severe with damaging winds and large hail. The timing looks to be between 4 and 8 pm today for areas north and west of Albany and between 8 pm and midnight south of Albany and east into New England. Should any of these storms cause severe thunderstorm watches or warnings to be issued, we will update you here with all of the information you may need.

If you see severe weather developing in your area, please take cover and be safe before you report your conditions to the National Weather Service.
