Reminder: This Poughkeepsie Pool Will Not Open For 2026 Season
As the weather heats up in the Hudson Valley (and I write this during day two of 90+ degrees and more humidity than we can handle), local residents are surely exploring all of the options to cool down for the next few months.

While we have been sharing plenty of information about public swimming options, splash pads throughout the community, and even cooling centers, it is important to know that a popular spot in Dutchess County will not be open to swimmers this year.

Spratt Park Pool Summer 2025
Last August, just before the end of the summer 2025 swimming season, Poughkeepsie Mayor Yvonne Flowers confirmed the reason behind the Spratt Park Pool closing up early. Just about four days ahead of the final scheduled date for the 2025 season, Mayor Flowers indicated that Spratt Park Pool would be closed for the rest of the season, only allowing adult lap swim for the final few days, in order to prepare for upcoming renovations.

Spratt Park Pool Renovations Update For Summer 2026
Now, with summer 2026 (the official start of summer anyway) in the near future, the City of Poughkeepsie has provided some important updates on what's going on at Spratt Park Pool.

Renovations are now underway as construction crews are hard at work transforming the pool into 'an amazing, modernized facility for the community to enjoy.'
In a June 9th release, the City confirmed that 'big things' were coming, including a brand new splash pad, a fully renovated pool house, major system upgrades as well as revamped concession areas at the park.

While Spratt Park Pool will be closed for the duration of the summer 2026 season, Pulaski Pool at 162 Washington Street in Poughkeepsie remains open and ready for visitors. While you can access additional information about operation and pool fees here, Pulaski is open daily from 11am-7:30pm for recreational swim, with dedicated hours set aside for lap swim and swim lessons in the morning.
