WOO HOO! We can say that summer is officially here! As I was making a list of what I want to do during this sunny season, I thought to myself, the drive-in movie theater is FINALLY open (YAY)! As I did my research, I totally had to share with you guys the hotspots and upcoming movies that are playing under the stars.

It wouldn’t it be summer without a trip or two, to the drive in, right? I don’t know about you, but I’ve been waiting for those warm, summer nights listening to the peepers and smelling fresh popcorn at Hudson Valleys drive-in theaters. Honestly, there’s just something about the atmosphere, if you’ve been there before, you catch my drift and if not, hold up and let me explain! Just imagine being able to look up at the stars preferably in the back of a truck, or lounging in chairs while catching the newest flick. Luckily, the drive in movies are fun for all ages, such as the family gatherings, hanging out with friends or just the perfect date night! Don’t forget to shut your lights off too while the movie is playing!

It’s time to relax on the tailgate, covered in comfy blankets, sipping on something refreshing and grabbing delicious food at the locally owned concession stand (GO local business!) Truth be told, I can’t imagine these nights ever getting old! I can clearly remember my first impression of the drive-in movies, while watching Grease on TV and seeing the dancing hot dog scene. How could we ever forget that Grease is the word, come on!

The average price of admission is reasonable and can sometimes be done by carload or individual so there’s no need to hid your friends or family in the back (oops). Prices vary upon location, so be sure to check out the websites for additional info on pricing. Also, depending on the theater, there are multiple screens showing different movies at the same time, let just say, double feature for the price of one! Some drives-in theaters have playgrounds to entertain the kids while waiting though the upcoming attractions. My mom informed me that the sound quality has improved greatly! Supposedly, you would have to bring a heavy speaker and hang it on your car window! Luckily, nowadays we can conveniently tune into the radio station at the movie theater so thank you 2019!

Overall, I’ve been to Fair Oaks Drive-In and the Warwick Drive-In as well. Be sure to check out the upcoming movies from each of these Hudson valley drive-in theaters! Maybe I’ll see you there this summer and drop a comment below of your experience!
