The Tappan Zee Bridge will be only have one southbound lane open as of 8pm tonight. Crews will attempt to repair the damage done by a crane that overturned earlier this week. Three northbound lanes will remain open as the work is done. The New York State Thruway Authority expects the lanes to be open in time for the morning commute.

Governor Cuomo insisted the work be done overnight to reduce impact on commuters. As of 8pm, traffic will be reduced to one lane at exit 11 (Nyack-South Nyack). A minimum of one lane will remain open during the repairs, with just one exception. At 9:30, there will be a 20 minute span of complete closure southbound. At this time, State Police will stop all traffic southbound at exit 10. Anyone traveling in the vicinity is advised to seek alternate routes.
