A Vibrant Celebration of Music and Community

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the 5th Annual Poughkeepsie Porch Fest, an event that transformed the Southside Historic District into a lively musical playground. Porch Fest is a unique neighborhood festival where residents turn their porches into stages for live performances, creating an immersive and intimate experience for attendees.

Victorian Charm and Musical Diversity

The festival predominantly took place on Academy Street, Barclay Street and Garfield Place, where the picturesque Victorian homes added a charming backdrop to the festivities. The majestic porches of these historic houses became vibrant venues, each filled with music and community spirit. As I stepped out of my front door, I was pleasantly surprised to find the Amerscot Highland Pipe Band just two houses down. The rich, resonant sound of the bagpipes perfectly encapsulated the festive atmosphere and drew in neighbors and visitors alike. Further down the street, crowds gathered for Not Tuna, Disregard The Alarm and El Grupo Folclórico de Poughkeepsie among many others.
