The Hudson Valley Gets Festive At Paddy On The River [Photos]

It's hard to predict how an outdoor event will go, especially when it's March on the banks of the Hudson River. But the sun was shining and hundreds showed to enjoy the Irish music, food, and adult beverages Saturday in the City of Poughkeepsie. A brand new layout, a big tent and a whole bunch of heaters shook things up in a good way at the fifth annual St. Patrick's Day themed event.

Doors opened for VIPs at 11 AM and things got underway. McGroovin' was on stage at noon as everybody else joined the party. Our friends from the Mighty Ploughboys were up next and put on a crowd-pleasing set as they done each of the past few years. Where the Ploughboys brought the rock and roll, up next was Ireland the Band, who brought a more traditional feel to the music. The popular Derek Dempsey closed out the day before everyone adjourned to Mahoney's for the after party.
