The Hudson Valley dominated a list that looked into what police departments pay the most.

Empire Center's "What They Make" report lists the average pay for every police department in New York. The information is based on the New York State and Local Retirement System.

Average pay is calculated by factoring in regular pay, overtime and unused sick and vacation time pay.

NYUP looked into the most recent "What They Make" report to find the "60 Upstate NY cities and towns that pay police the most." The website considers anything above Rockland County as "Upstate."
